Tech3 KTM Factory Racing headed to Jerez de la Frontera in the South of Spain early this week following the Portuguese Grand Prix for the second double header of the 2022 season set to be held from April 29 to May 1. The Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto has been one of the most popular venues of the MotoGP calendar and will see the return of fans with full capacity for the first time since 2019.

Coming back from his best weekend so far in MotoGP, Australian Remy Gardner will be looking forward to get back on the Spanish layout, one that he knows very well and seems to be enjoying. Remy currently holds the lap time record in the Moto2 category, obtained in 2021 when he took the pole position. Again, the story will be different with a MotoGP engine, but Remy will already have riding time and data to work on since he did his first MotoGP test in Jerez back in November 2021, and will look to continue to improve and take a further step. His teammate Raul Fernandez was unfortunately unable to race in Portimao due to a sustained injury on his right hand following his crash on Saturday, and has been recovering since then in order to be able to get back to work on Friday.

With an expected sunny, warm and dry weekend ahead of us, the action will start on Friday at 9:55 (GMT+2) with the first free practice session, followed by the second one at 14:10, both of forty-five minutes each. On Saturday, the action will resume with the third free practice at 9:55, at the end of which qualifying entries will be determined. There will be a final chance to practice at 13:00 with FP4, before the qualifying sessions start at 14:10. The Gran Premio Red Bull de España is scheduled on Sunday, May 1, at 14:00 local time, for twenty-five laps.

"I look foward to going to Jerez. We already did some test back in November and we were quite confident. I am hoping to find the same feelings and build on the positive weekend we just had in Portimao. I cannot wait to be on Friday."

"First of all, I would like to apologise to the team for not being able to race on Sunday in Portimao. It was a tough decision to make. We have another week now ahead of us in Jerez. It will be interesting for our bike and I like this track a lot. We will see what we can do in function of my hand, but I will try to do my best."

Team Manager

"Here we are in Jerez de la Frontera, an iconic venue of the MotoGP championship. We have already tested with both Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez at the Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto back in November so we have precious information to work from.

We are excited to race in front of the fans for the first time since 2019. We missed them a lot in 2020 and 2021, because the atmosphere has always been so special here and the fans are very enthusiastic to see us coming. When we arrive on Sunday mornings, we almost feel like we are heading to a football game, because there are fireworks and they are already so noisy.

On the technical side, Jerez is a very demanding circuit with straights, hard braking and fast corners, and it is always challenging to find the perfect bike set-up. It looks like it is going to be hot as well, which will add another difficulty that we will have to manage.

We believe that Remy is in good shape, both physically and mentally, as he just had his best MotoGP race so far in Portimao. We and him are expecting one more step this weekend. On the other side of the garage, it was a huge disappointment not to have Raul on the starting grid on Sunday. He is working very hard to recover to be able to ride without pain. It will be interesting to see how he will come back and how he feels on the bike on Friday. We look forward to starting the action with our two hungry rookies."
